About Dr. Katherine M. Afzal

Katherine M. Afzal DC, DACNB, FABBIR, RN

 

Dr. Katherine McDermont Afzal grew up in Springfield, IL and completed her undergraduate education at University of Illinois- Urbana Champaign with honors. Here, she realized her passion for learning about the body and studied Kinesiology as her primary concentration and Chemistry as a secondary concentration. While studying at UIUC, she was President of McKinley Health Center’s Special Populations Health Concerns Committee. Leading her team, this organization hosted health fairs for over 4,000 of their student peers, as well as health education workshops for special populations including minorities, LGBT, and international students. Through this experience, she learned early on that individuals have unique health needs and should be treated as such.

She earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University where she graduated Cum Laude and received the Contemporary Scientific Paradigms Award for her graduating class. She continued her education to become a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (DACNB) and Fellow of the American Board of Brain Injury Rehabilitation (FABBIR). Her most recent accomplishments include a Registered Nursing license.

For the past decade, Dr. Afzal worked at a world renown chiropractic neurology clinic in San Francisco and she is excited to bring her expertise to the Nashville area. There, she served as the elected President of the California Chiropractic Association San Francisco chapter.

Dr. Afzal specializes in the rehabilitation of various neurological and musculoskeletal disorders. She has extensive experience working with children and adults with post-concussion syndrome, degenerative disc disease, developmental delays, dyslexia, learning differences, movement disorders, sciatica, tic disorders, vertigo, sports injuries, and many more.  Dr. Afzal enjoys speaking to bring awareness about advancements in post-concussion rehabilitation and neurological conditions.
